Creating Characters

I love using online tools and apps which allow students to customise and develop their creativity.  There are many avatar makers and creature creators available.  I have updated this presentation to include a few new ones I have found.  I have also included a few ideas on how to use them in the classroom.

I couldn't agree more. Creating avatars and OC (original characters) is a wonderful activity for kids, especially teens eager to explore their identities. On DoInk http://www.doink.com we see this all the time. Our users create back stories for their characters & publish episodic cartoons starring them. These character take on a real persona & enable our users to express themselves openly. Even cooler, is when our users integrate other community member's OCs into their stories. Collaboration is huge & encouraged.

This is the best list of avatar generators that I have ever seen! So many that were new for me! Thanks so much for putting this together.

Thanks Steph. There are some new ones here I hadn't come across before. It's a shame that so many of them are for ages 13+

wow I thought I had a good list until I saw this! I have added your suggestions to my blog list. Perhaps there are some here you would like to try too!
